A Senate in Turmoil

As Senate Republicans gear up for a monumental battle over Supreme Court nominees, Democrats led by minority leader Harry Reid have threatened to call to a halt all nonessential Senate action. In his first post the veteran detailed the Republican push to remove the filibuster; the last bastion of the senate minority against majority oppression. Majority leader Dr. Bill Frist and his associates in the Senate are still pushing for this vital component of political compromise's demise. Reid has stated in a letter to Frist that, barring certain exceptions, Senate Democrats would "stop or slow" any business put forth in the Senate until this matter is cleared and the filibuster is no longer in danger. Reid and his comrades now take a mighty stand against the most partisan Senate in recent history. One can only hope they possess the nerve, and the numbers, to win.

As the Moderate Veteran has stated it's true the Senate is in a sad state of turmoil. Lets see.....Fii.a.buster..uummm? I seem to remember when Clinton was in the Oral Orffice, he enjoyed playing the same game of "pin the rap on the other guy" As history will show during his Presidency and and through his Oral Oriffice meanderings, he got very little in response in the form of a Republican fillabuster on anything he wanted to get through. Prove me wrong.
What the Demoncrats are doing is making history. This is the first time in our American history,we have a party that is actually driving up our energy prices. They are going down in history as the first American Political Party known to hold-up the appointment of several proposed Judicial noniminations. What they are doing is throwing a temper tantrum. Now, is this the way we as Americans get things done on a political scale? I put it to you the reader to read between the lines. Bush wants to get some Judges through the Senate (which by the way the Consitution calls for),so they can get legislation passed and approved to help those of any American Political Party. The judges are not left wing nuts or right wing nuts. They want to help decide issues me and you and our families have to deal with on an everyday basis.
The Senate will not come to a roaring stop. The Ted Kennedys, the Hillery Clintons, and we cannot forget Harry Reid they want to prevent these nominations from taking place. You have to look through the smoke screen they are throwing up. Do you want to know what that will do? Well, get ready to pay $5.00 for gas.
The prespective Judicial Nominations will help get ANWAR up and running so our American economny will keep running:And it
runs on OIL. Yep. Black Gold.
10.4 Billions U.S. Gal.sitting in ANWAR.
In other terms, enoungh to keep our economny going for 30+ yrs.An influx of 500 BILLION $$ for our economny. We have the tech. to do this without harming any wildlife. Think about all of the jobs.
Bottom line is this folks: The Dems. are going to make you and me and my mother pay upwards of $5. buck for gas just because the Senate Dems. are having a fit.
You as the reader also need to know some more of this story. The Dems. don't want us to open up new coal mines, and are refusing to give tax breaks to those companies who want to develope other means of energy sources.
In the long run, those who want to stand in the way of the United States break away from our dependance on OPEC are only going to have a cold home in the future.
It's really not a hard concept to grasp: We keep being held hostage to OPEC or... we take advantage of what God gave this great country.
See you next time...JNSMITH
